Adding a POI

There are three ways to add a new POI:

  1. use the map to find the location. Right-click on the map and choose Add POI Here

    OR

  2. from the asset list, select an asset. The Information panel of the asset opens. Click the ClosedMore button (button with three dots) and select Add POI Here.

    OR

  3. from Configuration > POIs, click on the ClosedAdd button (the plus sign next to the Search field).

Filling out the POI form

  1. The New POI window consists of:
    ClosedGeneral tab

    From the General tab, you can enter information about the POI such as description, address, category, type and notes.

    The following fields are mandatory:

    • Description
    • POI Type
    • Category.
    Closed Contact tab

    Additional information can be added in this tab regarding the contact person.

     Note: The email address that you provide will be used to send out the notification if setup.

    ClosedNotifications tab

    It is a feature that allows you to remain informed about the arrival and departure of assets within the parameters of the POI.

    • By default, the notifications are switched off. The fields are only enabled once the Notification button is switched on
    • You can modify the subject line and body of the arrival and departure email
    • There is an option to delay the email before it is sent. By default, it is set to 3 minutes and the range of the delay is between 3 to 60 minutes.

     Note: An email is required within the Contact tab, if notifications are turned on.

    ClosedMap

    The map allows you to draw and adjust the shape of the POI.

    • By default, a pin is placed at the address you have entered or searched for
    • You can choose to draw a circle that outlines the POI with a buffer of 100 meters from the pin
      • The pin is considered the centre point.
    • You can adjust the circle by making it bigger or smaller
    • You can erase the circle and re-draw the shape of the POI using either the Shape or Line tool
    • You can search the map to find the exact location of the POI.

     Note: The address field will not automatically change to the added address specified using the map and vice versa if you edit the address field, the map will not be updated with the new address.

  2. Fill out all the required fields

    If you click Reset, it will undo all the changes from all the tabs leaving all the fields empty. It will also undo changes to the map.

    If you click Cancel (the X), you will be prompted by the system that you will lose all your changes if you proceed.

  3. Click Save button. The window closes.
