Adding an asset
Go to Configuration > Assets > Assets and click on the Add button (the plus sign next to the Search field).
Filling out the Asset form
Note: Depending on the Device ID chosen, the tabs may vary. The Blackberry, Geotab and Pointer devices will show an additional tab.
- If you choose a Blackberry Device ID, you will have an additional tab, Trailer / Container Information that allows you to customize some additional settings such as Trailer Type, Door Type, Mounting Location and Dimensions.
- If you choose a Geotab Device ID, you will have an additional tab, Advanced that allows you to customize the Forward / Back Force, Side To Side Force, Harsh Acceleration Force, Harsh Cornering Force and Harsh Braking Force.
- If you choose a Pointer Device ID, you will have an additional tab, Pointer Settings that allows you to configure the driver authentication using the following two options : Immobilizer Type (refers to the configuration of the physical device i.e whether the driver needs to sign in or not) and Driver ID Type (refer to the physical device).
- The New Asset window consists of:General tab
From the General tab, you can enter information about the asset such as:
Fields Description Description (Required) Provide a name for the asset Asset Type (Required) Used to associate assets together to form a group Device ID number associated with each device DDS stands for Device Data Settings which determines the frequency of snapshots sent to Fleet Complete Related Asset An asset can be associated with another asset for reporting purposes Resource Assign a resource to the asset Record additional positions when vehicle direction changes records additional snapshots when the vehicle direction changes which is defined as a 30 degree change in direction for at least 5 consecutive seconds Vehicle Information tabFrom the Vehicle Information tab, you can enter or view information regarding the vehicle:

ECM Connectivity Status Rule AssignmentThe rules under this tab are pre-populated with the ones that you have created in FC desktop and have selected the checkbox, "Assign this rule by default when creating a new asset ".
If you did not select the checkbox, the rule will not appear under the Rule Assignment tab.
The list of rules can be sorted by Description, Type , Ascending or Descending order.
Note: The rules are automatically turned ON. You have the ability to turn them OFF.
SensorsBy default, this tab is blank if you have not chosen any Device ID and DDS. Once that you have entered those information, you will see a list of default sensors.
At this point, the list is static and can not be edited.

- Fill out all the required fields
- If you click Reset, it will undo all the changes from all the tabs leaving all the fields empty. It will also undo changes to the map.
- If you click Cancel (the X), you will be prompted by the system that you will lose all your changes if you proceed.
- Click Save button. The window closes.
